" Dear Del Piero:
it was amazing thing that I started going out to salsa parties after taking some lessons and watching all
wonderful dancers on the dance floor. The only thing I don’t like is setting for more than 20 minutes until someone ask me for a dance! and as you said the only way to improve is to practice! how can i practice if the guys don’t ask me for a dance? I really love salsa and i want to improve as fast as I can..what shall I do? "

**Answer:
What you feel is normal and it always happen to most dancers in the beginning, even for male dancers

My suggestion is simple..When you go out to dance..People need to see that! specially in the beginning because they don't know you yet!

Let me explain in another way..., imagine yourself as that wonderful dancer you will be and one day you see a new person setting down , with no smile, having a drink away from the dance floor in a dark corner ..what will come to your mind at that moment? you will think.." hmm,, that person must be not in a mood to dance, or doesn’t like to dance, or just have a long day and he/she just want to relax and have a drink or doesn’t like the music...etc"...and you wouldn’t ask him/her to dance because you don’t want to bother him/her right?

Now what I think you need to do is this:
- First..when you go out to dance...SMILE!!.. get up from your chair..and just start move with the music..people will see that , and most probably a dancer will ask you for a dance, and when people see you dancing..they will know that you like to dance, so another dancer will come and ask you for another dance..and it goes like that for the rest of the evening!

- Second..in salsa scene it doesn’t matter who should ask who for a dance! if you see someone you like to dance with just go to him or her and don’t even ask! Just grab his/her hand and say " Let’s dance!" :)

- In parties your main aim is to enjoy and to have fun! it doesn’t matter if your steps right or wrong!.. leave this to classes and let you teacher take care of it.. parties is to socialise, dance and have great time with music. you enjoy the party and remember we all had to start at one point.

- Always remember! Salsa its a free life and everyone has a right to say YES or No when we ask them o dance! Maybe he/she is tired or just finished a dance and like to have a break or maybe simply doesn’t want to dance.., So what! Someone else would love to dance with you! And maybe will make your night the best thing happen in your day!

Stay positive .. focus on what you like..and it will show on your face.. positive attitude attract great people..

Hope that was useful..have a dancy day! :)
